Merchandising 2IC Manager

New World Te Rapa is looking for a Merchandising 2IC Manager to support our Merchandising Manager and help lead the department.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will help make sure the department runs smoothly, customers receive great service, and our team maintains high standards.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Merchandising Manager, you will:

• Help manage the day-to-day running of the department.
• Lead, support, and motivate the team.
• Ensure customers receive friendly and helpful service.
• Maintain high standards of merchandising, presentation, pricing, and stock levels.
• Assist with ordering, stocktaking, credits, and promotional activity.
• Help achieve sales and gross profit targets.
• Assist with rostering and wage control.
• Build good relationships with suppliers, merchandisers, and other departments.
• Make sure Health & Safety and Food Safety standards are followed.
• Support team training, development, recruitment, and performance reviews.
• Help identify ways to improve sales and department performance.
• Take responsibility for the department when the Merchandising Manager is away.

About You

• Has retail or supermarket experience.
• Has experience leading or supervising a team.
• Is organised, reliable, and hardworking.
• Has a strong customer focus.
• Takes pride in presentation and maintaining high standards.
• Has good communication and people skills.
• Can work well in a busy environment.
• Is confident making decisions and taking responsibility.
• Understands the importance of Health & Safety and Food Safety.
• Is keen to develop their leadership skills.
