PAK’nSAVE Rotorua is on the lookout for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to join our senior leadership team. This is a key role where you’ll lead high-performing teams, drive operational excellence, and help deliver a superior experience for our customers, our people, and our community.

About the Role

Reporting to the Store Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership of our Dry Departments, Customer Services and Online operations. You’ll ensure outstanding merchandising standards, strong cost control, safe and efficient operations, and a positive, high-engagement team culture.

This role is ideal for a confident retail/supermarket leader who thrives on structure, accountability, and developing people to perform at their best.  This is a full-time position with days and hours to be discussed at the interview.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop department leadership teams to consistently deliver high standards of presentation, availability and service
• Drive operational efficiency across stock flow, storeroom, ticketing, rotation and shrink control
• Achieve wage, productivity and cost targets through effective planning and rostering
• Ensure all Food Safety, Health & Safety and compliance requirements are met and upheld
• Manage recruitment, induction, training, performance management and succession planning
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, Foodstuffs partners and internal stakeholders
• Actively support store initiatives, promotions, events and community engagement

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2 years’ department management experience in a retail/supermarket environment
• Proven ability to lead, coach and motivate large teams
• Strong operational discipline with excellent planning and organisational skills
• High level of computer literacy, including advanced Excel and SAP capability
• Forklift licence and physical capability to meet role demands

• Flexible availability to meet operational needs, including senior management commitments and flexibility to work a variety of days and hours, including early starts/later nights and weekends

• A reliable attendance record and strong work ethic
• Confident communicator who role-models our values: Above the Line, Customer Driven, One Team

Desirable (but not essential)

• Management Development or equivalent qualification
• General Manager’s Certificate
• Unit Standard 497
• Clean driver’s licence
