Qualified & Experienced Butcher
Pak'n Save Kilbirnie is searching for a Qualified and Experienced Butcher to join our busy Butchery Department. This role requires fine motor skills, attention to detail, an excellent Food Safety & Health and Safety record and the ability to lead and demonstrate excellent Butchering technique to the next generation of apprentices.
You will be comfortable in a production environment but also be confident to interact with customers on a daily basis.
The Butchery team consists of 10 team members which includes 4 qualified Butchers. The team works from the early hours of the morning through till 5.30pm to ensure the shop is full of quality meat for opening (7am) and topped up regularly through the day, this also offers our customers the ability to chat and source what they need directly from the Butchery team.
This position becomes available due to a retirement, the position will not be immediately available, please consider this as you apply.
Key Tasks
- Correctly & efficiently breaking bones and slicing and cutting all meat whilst reducing wastage and maximising GP / CTP.
- Assisting in the traying up of meat as required.
- Undertaking stocktake on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
- Ensuring the meat cases and freezers are appropriately stocked and relevant merchandising standards are maintained at all times
- Ensuring all customer special orders are prepared to agreed timeframes
- Enhancing the image of the department by implementation of agreed standards of display and presentation of stock.
- Assisting in ensuring all appropriate cleaning and stocktaking is completed.
- Effectively resolving all customers related enquiries and complaints unless management approval is required.

Essential Qualifications/Experience
- Foodstuffs Butchery Apprenticeship Graduate (for internal candidates) or Trade Cert
- 3 years butchery experience
- Physically fit and able to fulfil the requirements of the role.
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Good basic math skills
- Unit standards 497, 167 & 168
- Customer service experience
- 1 - 2 years Food retail or fresh food experience
Hours of Work
Sunday - Thursday (Friday & Saturday RDO)
6am - 3.30pm
